
When you reserve a half cow with Heslep’s Coastal Cattle, we commit an animal and a processing slot at Sudlersville Meat Locker specifically for your family. That means we incur real costs long before pickup day.
To keep things fair and clear, here’s how refunds and cancellations work.
1. Deposits & Payments
- A $500 deposit is required to reserve your half cow.
- This deposit is non-refundable, except as outlined in the cancellation policy below.
- Your final balance is calculated from hanging weight plus butcher processing and is due before or at pickup.
2. If You Need to Cancel
We understand that plans change, but once we’ve committed the animal and processing, our costs are locked in.
More than 14 days before your scheduled pickup date:
- You may cancel your order.
- 50% of your deposit ($250) will be refunded.
- The remaining 50% of the deposit is retained to cover farm and processing commitments.
14 days or less before your scheduled pickup date (including day-of):
- No refund of the deposit will be issued.
- If your beef has already been processed and packaged, any additional payments made toward the order are also non-refundable.
If you do not show up for pickup and do not contact us to make alternative arrangements, your order may be forfeited without refund.
3. Butcher Errors & Cut Sheet Issues
All half-cow orders are processed and cut by Sudlersville Meat Locker (USDA inspected) based on the cut sheet you approve.
Heslep’s Coastal Cattle is not responsible for butcher mistakes, including but not limited to:
- Incorrect steak thickness
- Incorrect roast sizes
- Packaging or labeling issues
- Items missed or cut differently than requested
Any concerns or claims related to how your beef was cut, packaged, or labeled must be addressed directly with Sudlersville Meat Locker.
Heslep’s Coastal Cattle will not issue refunds or discounts due to butcher errors or cut-sheet misunderstandings.
4. Changes, Delays, or Cancellations by Us
If, for any reason (such as animal health, processor schedule issues, or circumstances beyond our control), we are unable to provide your half cow as agreed:
We will offer you the choice to:
- Transfer your reservation to the next available processing date, or
- Receive a full refund of your deposit and any additional payments made.
